It’s deplorable how the same group is tinkering with the dotafrica initiative, moving from one entity to another; first there was the dotafrica.org, then AFTLD, then AU Task Force that did not recommend anything or a way forward to the African internet communities and now another opportunist has come along in the mould of the African Registry Consortium; the good thing is that these antics and fumbling with proposals are open to everyone to see; initially ARC, as I remember, had tailored proposal to work with AFTLD, now it’s open to a new partner. All this is happening because the African Union is not showing leadership and admitting and validating the endorsement that it had openly given to the one and only organization that has consistently and  almost singlehandedly, campaigned for the DotAfrica initiative for close to 5 years, the DotConnectAfrica Organization. Once again, I vote NO to the dotafrica cabal.

DotAfrica has remained moribund and mostly stillborn, a non starter who  was jolted back to life by a younger resilient and robust organization, Dot Africa needed not have necessarily awoke from its perpetual sleep, had it not been the catalytic effect f the trail blazing  DotconnectAfrica who in fact had a clear and well planned functional document and a leadership that is level headed, a people who have the passion to drive the initiative to lead Africa towards a .africa future.

Its therefore prudent to term Dotafrica and the organizations that it has mutated into in the name of Aftld and more recently ARC which stemmed from an interest of a cash mine in the name of .africa domain. Most of the leaders who have hopped from one organization to another after as an exit strategy, to salvage their credibility having headed failed project in former governments ant therefore safely carrying the same attitude and mechanisms to modern systems .

Most organizations masquerading as representatives of the African ccTLDs’ are infact privately run entities, Africa has suffered on many occasions of organizations perceived to be publicly owned only to be swindled and denied basic needs technology being one very important need.

To allow such amorphous organizations to attempt to represent Africa is to condone a suicide , in fact its would be prudent to call it a pre-swindle.

Africa has to be allowed an open and clean procedure in this season since if due care is not taken we risk being bundled out of the legal process of ICANN.

The promiscuity of the fellows of these organizations must at all time be prevented from perpetuating a massacre on the future of Africa technology much as the purport to promote it.

Enjoyed reading the latest bombast with its ever strident tone.  “fail theatrically” is interesting but perhaps not the word, spectacularly, could be better.

    Bonjour,
